The WiFi button in settings is greyed out and I can't turn it on. Why?
This is the definitive symptom of a WiFi IC (Chip) failure on the motherboard. Unlike a broken antenna (where signal is weak), a 'greyed out' button means the phone's processor cannot communicate with the WiFi module at all. Replacement of the chip is required.
